1969
Muscle Bike
In 1968 Schwinn introduced the
first "Krate" bikes. The bikes
were available in 3
Kool Kolors:

Orange Krates, Apple Krates
&
Lemon Peelers

In '69 Scwhinn added the
Pea Picker to the line up and
continued to add new colors until
Krate's were discontinued in the
mid-70's

This frame-off restored
Orange Krate originally left
Schwinn's Chicago factory in
February 1969, as documented
by it's 'BE' serial number prefix.

This
1969 Muscle Bike makes a
great addition to Dave's 60's
Muscle Car Collection!
High Impact paint color, racing stripes, lots of bright chrome, 5-speed "stik-shift", front drum brake,
springer front end & rear shocks and wide "Gripper Slik" rear tire.
What kid wouldn't want to square off with a buddy for a little drag race down to the corner store?
This is a 1968 Schwinn sales brochure
introducing the new for '68 Krate Bikes.

Note that the picture was taken at the old
O.C. Drag Track, just a few miles from
where Dave's Orange Krate calls home!

Not sure, but that looks like Don "The
Snake" Prudhome's Wynn's Winder Top
Fuel dragster in the background.
Above is Shwinn's Krate line-up and details for the 1969 models.
